But are you ready? Once 4th of July and Labor Day passes, we are in the thick of summer. Do you have plans to travel internationally this summer? If so, please be aware... Although, the United States no longer require a negative Covid test to re-enter from international destinations, do yourself a favor and research if the country you're heading to (before booking flights, plans and lengthy itineraries) has any covid-19/vaccination status restrictions and/or requirements. Do not assume the lifting of the negative PCR test requirement by the U.S. (as well as the U.K. and other nations) to enter/return, is true for the rest of the world. Avoid wasting money and being turned around at the airline check-in counter at the airport. Your Traveling Unbothered self & travel crew will thank you later, trust us! ------- ✈︎ ------ So here's what you can do to be confident about your international plans:
For Ex: If you're going to Madrid, Spain -- google something like: "What are the travel requirements for U.S. citizen visiting Madrid, Spain", "Can I enter Madrid as an unvaccinated U.S. citizen?", "Do I need a negative covid test to enter Madrid, if I am vaccinated?", etc.
American Airlines & Sherpa - Travel Restrictions Resource Delta Airline - Travel Planning Center You're going to input your destination and vaccination status. And voila! The sites let you know if there are any requirements, restrictions, health forms, etc. ** Depending on vaccination status ~ Vaccinated: Check websites at least 72 hours prior (in case PCR test necessary) ~ Unvaccinated: If you do not have plans to get vaccinated before the trip, check the above websites once you have a destination in mind - to be able to plan accordingly, in case the international country does not permit unvaccinated foreign visitors Trust me, you do not want the plane to take off without you — while you’re scrambling to find a quick (and ridiculously expensive 🥴) test to take at the airport.
Last Tip:
For example, if you use the Sherpa site, it will appear to suggest that as a vaccinated traveler, you do not need a negative covid test. However, this is untrue, for some. To go to Madrid (airport code MAD) from NYC Kennedy (JFK), MAD requires a negative Covid test for those unvaccinated. HOWEVER, here's the part that can get you -- those that are vaccinated must have gotten their last dose or booster shot at least 14 days prior but no more than 270 days prior to MAD arrival. This last part was not within the first 2 sentences of the requirements. Always click on "See Details" to further read any limitations. Otherwise, those vaccinated beyond 270 days must also provide a negative Covid test in order to check-in with the ticketing counter before being granted access to TSA security.
