Best Days To Fly

Alright, bet. What days do you think are the best days to fly? Monday? Thursday?

According to Insider and AirHelp's new data, Thursday Is the worst day to travel. Which leaves 6 other possibilities for the best day to travel.

AirHelp is an air passenger rights company. They have apparently assisted passengers in claiming compensation after experiencing delayed or canceled flights, as well as missed connections. I personally have never used them, but If you were wondering who/what they did, here It Is.

Anyway, AirHelp conducted a study in which they looked at flights across airlines between May 27 and July 31 of 2022. The data revealed:

  • Thursday is the worst day for flight cancellations, but Tuesday is the best.
  • Tuesday was also the best day for on-time flights and the least flight disruption, the data showed.
  • Summer 2022 has seen high levels of disruption to flights amid surging demand and staff shortages

Fly Girls & Baes, did you catch that? It's Tuesday.

Between May 27 - July 31, only 1.8% of flights were cancelled, followed by a close second (best day to fly) - Monday, with 1.9% of flights cancelled.

On the contrary here are the worst days to travel: Thursdays experienced an average of 3.6% of Its flights cancelling, and a close second for worst days Is Friday, at 3.2% cancellation average ~ don't worry I'll list all of these at the end, if your head is swimming with numbers LOL.

Wednesday and Saturday were not far from the worst days, both coming In at 2.7% in flight cancellations, and Sunday ranking 5th for the worst day to travel with 2.5% flights cancelled. Click here to view original article.

So all that to say...

In order of BEST to WORST - Here are the days you should fly:

  • Tuesday * also best day for punctuality w/ 78% of flights departing on time
  • Monday
  • Sunday
  • Wednesday
  • Saturday
  • Friday * also worst day for punctuality w/ 69% of flights departing on time
  • Thursday

Side Note: Although Thursday ranked most cancellations, Friday had the most consistent disruptions, overall.

Why do you think Tuesday Is the best day to travel, as opposed to Friday? If you guessed because Tuesday Is a random workday, you guessed right. If people are at work, there's less traffic & less demand = less disruption. And we all know how people like to extend their vacations - no longer are people leaving for vacation on Friday and Saturday and coming back on Sunday... if they got It like that --> eager vacationers are leaving Thursday.

I guess they say: "Bon Voyage, B!t€he$!" 💋🛫

P.S. keep in mind this study was done during 1 month of the 2022 summer travel  season, after the panda - in which there is a shortage of workers and high demand for travelers to finally be "outside"... Meaning, the data can change depending on the season and other circumstances, like the workforce.
