Who doesn't love a good souvenir?!
When going on the trip is impossible, the next best thing is... receiving a gift! Not like a bragging - "haha bih, you didn't make the trip..." type of gift - but more of a "hey friend, you know I had to bring you something back, girlll..." type of gift :) This is especially true for those of us whose love language is Receiving Gifts; in other words, give me something & make it thoughtful ;)
When my boyfriend goes on one of his guy trips or solo-cations, he knows not to come back empty-handed. It's either a gift or "we need to talk"... He prefers the gift.
But I know I'm not the only one who loves a cute, unique gift from a loved one's recent travels.
And because of this, it is time we come together to figure out a new game plan for what to take back to our loved ones. There is no need for you to magnet-and-shot-glass your family to death, unless of course that is their thing (i.e. my mother). But if, or rather when, it's not - let's operate a little more outside of the box.
Here are 5 ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛꜰᴜʟ ɢɪꜰᴛꜱ ᴛᴏ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʜᴏᴍᴇ [𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵 1]:
1. Local Coffee:
Coffee tastes differently around the world. Why not take some home to the coffee lover in your life?
2. Local Wine or Duty Free Liquor:
Need I say more? Grab wine that’s recommended by the locals… grab duty-free liquor from other countries that you may not be able to find stateside, like White Hennessy (which is totally overrated but hey, its exclusivity makes it more appealing).
* Please note: if you purchase a local wine while on vacation (to take back home), you must check a bag with the wine inside in order for you to make it through security without it being confiscated. Duty free is a little different. Be sure to purchase the duty free after security, while in the airport.
3. Delicacy / Local Chocolate:
Delicacy from around the world is a big flex—something like Cuban cigars… & who doesn’t love chocolate?!
4. Duty-Free Perfume:
Cheaper to purchase in most airports, you can try the scents ‘til you find something you love. Or maybe you have a homegirl, your mini-me (daughter), mom, spouse, etc. who is looking for a new scent and/or can't stop talking about a specific one. This is even better for you, you can quickly grab the scent they've been raving about on your way home - no thinking required during your vacation.
Also, when you know the scent(s) name, it's helpful in avoiding being upsold.
*Pro-tip: if you have a flight attendant/airport personnel friend, they get an additional 5-10% discount. But you didn't hear that from us; don't go harassing 'associates' you barely talk to for their discount. Chill.
5. Local Spices or Hot Sauce:
Men seem to love hot sauce & odd gifts as such, so here's a cool, thoughtful gift for the men in your life. Also for those who love to cook foreign dishes and love specialty spices they wouldn’t ordinarily find stateside or think to reach for, opt to find them something they'll actually use. If your person loves spicy, they’re going to love your gift of hot sauce.
6. Seated & Stowed:
If you find yourself without the car, local currency, resources, or time to look for thoughtful gifts to take back home, don't fret. Visit our shop, here to grab a few travel necessities to pass out as gifts. The girlies love our OTG lifestyle products, and soon the guys will too! How can we blame them?
