If you’ve ever traveled to CUN airport, you can attest to the chaos that lies right outdoors of Cancun, Mexico (CUN) airport. But Perhaps this will be your first time. Ok, let me paint a picture for you…
The moment you exit the baggage claim area, you’re fair game. From the Duty-Free stores to the currency exchange stands, the CUN airport employees are eager to help you spend your money.
You manage to make it to the airport's exit but now you’re approached with Round 2. This time it’s the many local adventure companies, shuttle services, public bus services, etc. swarming just-landed passengers. You’re like fresh, new blood and they’re looking for the ill-prepared, clueless travelers.
In fact, the only chill, stationary guys are the private transport services—there, in the midst of the chaos you can find these guys holding a sign with the names of reserved car holders. You want your name to be amongst the sign-holders.
This is because Uber & other rideshare apps do not service the CUN area. So to avoid the chaos, book your ROUNDTRIP transport with your hotel or resort you booked with—at the time of booking, or AT LEAST 3-4 days before travel day to ensure availability.
Never wait til landing at CUN airport to arrange your transportation to your hotel. They charge more, the experience is not a pleasant one—as it feels very much like soliciting and hustling (no one likes to feel ‘hustled’), and it can totally change the trajectory of your vacation.
